The
Belgian company became an authority worldwide in the field of feeding
and drinking systems for poultry and pigs. In the past 40 years they
introduced 33 new systems. Many
of these systems initiated trends or became standards in the industry:
Minimax, Optimax, Hoxline, Bridomat, KiXoo, Vitoo. Roxell expects at
least as much from its recently introduced innovations like HaiKoo, LaïCa
and PooLaï. It
all started back in 1967 when Forrest Lee Ramser and Howard Brembeck,
founders of Chore-Time in the USA, established a subsidiary in Belgium.
They were convinced that the European poultry and livestock industry too
would benefit from their inventions: the first feeding pan for broilers
and the axe-less auger. In
1969 they exchanged the rented warehouse in Sijsele for a new factory in
Maldegem which included an own development department. As of then many
new products for poultry as well as for pigs were introduced to the
market on a regular basis. In
1990 the company changed its name and became world renowned as Roxell.
The name is combination of the words “rock” and “excellence”. Today
Roxell occupies 13 500 m² of building including a production facility
that is considered as the best equipped in the industry. The company
employs 200 people. The
backbone of the company is their passion for innovation, supported by
motivated co-workers and a superior network of 175 distributors and
agents. The Roxell range is exported to 85 countries. Roxell is now a
business unit of the CTB, Inc. holding and realized a turnover of 52
million € during the previous year.

The
event could not be staged any better. Agriflanders, the Flemish bi-annual
agricultural show opened its doors on the eleventh of January, exactly the
day on which Roxell celebrated its fortieth anniversary. During a
reception held on the second evening of the show Roxell welcomed an
important number of influential relations from the Belgian intensive
livestock scene, related industries and trade press.

Strangely
enough avian Influenza seems to have had a positive influence on the way
the poultry industry is evolving throughout Asia. Live markets disappear
more and more. Manual feeding is abandoned and replaced by automatic
feeding. The pig industry also shows a significant growth in automation
for similar reasons as the poultry industry: better control on health and
hygiene and optimization of the production methods to deliver safe, high
quality products at a fair price.
Gino Van Landuyt, managing director:
“Growers realise the benefits of better control on health and production
aspects. Restricting the number of people coming on a farm or getting in
direct contact with the animals reduces the risk of contamination
considerably. “It is our experience that Asian poultry and pig growers prefer genuine technology from established companies because they want certainties about the return on their investment.”, adds Hugo De Ruyck, Sales Manager. New stand concept at VIV-Asia. Roxell took VIV-Asia as an opportunity to introduce their new stand concept. The familiar pyramids have been replaced by displays in the shape of large gates. Each gate gives a complete overview of Roxell’s feeding or drinking solutions for a specific type of animal with demo units and illustrative visuals. The new concept also allows optimizing the hospitality space to welcome our visitors. The 40th Anniversary of the company was
celebrated with a very well attended reception offered to the Asian
customers, invitees from related industries and the trade press. |

Lithuanian pig producers gather at Sidabra farms At the beginning of last March a group of about twenty Lithuanian pig producers gathered in Joniškis, a small town located in the North of Lithuania, for a seminar on multiphase feeding of pigs. The seminar was organized by Roxell in co-operation with Sidabra and the local Roxell distributor Alginsta U.A.B. The Sidabra site houses 3500 sows and 13600 fattening pigs. The farm achieves an output of 66 000 pigs per year. Per week 600 pigs are moved to another Sidabra finishing site of 16 houses with 850 pig places each. Sidabra is one of the largest producers in Lithuania and one of the first to lift its production units up to state-of-the-art management standards. Optimization of feed efficiency and daily growth. Sidabra is a typical example of a progressive company wanting to produce excellent meat quality at maximum cost efficiency. Multiphase feeding offers them the flexibility to change the feed according to the age of the pigs. In this way pigs receive the feed that best suits their needs during the different growth phases. At the moment Sidabra feeds 3 different types of feed but the Roxell Multifast Controller can manage up to 20 different feed sorts. The system is enhanced with especially developed software running on a normal pc connected to the internet. It allows optimal management and control including adaptations of the process in any part of the production wherever on the farm. The investment of Sidabra has already resulted in a reduction of the labour costs by 38 000 € per year and substantial savings on the production costs due to higher feed efficiency. Contact:

Roxell enhances its DOSline sow feeding systems (DOS7 and Dozit) with a new option for biphase feeding. The special biphase outlet can easily be installed on the existing DOSline systems and allows easy switching from one feed sort to another. The double outlet is equipped with two different shut-off slides. This offers easy and visual control to spot immediately which feed is supplied. |

Poolaï
is developed purely for the rearing of pullets. The low pan edge allows
day-olds to spot the feed within seconds. The 360° flooding keeps the pan
full of feed. The oval shaped pan is equipped with a high feed saver rim. LaïCa was developed exclusively for layers in production and for layer parent stock. A uniquely designed pan in cascade shape prevents selective pecking and thus forces the birds to eat all feed ingredients. Special wings on the cone stop the hens from grubbing in the feed while a wide feed saver rim prevents spilling. The
incorporated trough in the bottom and the pan lock make sure that the feed
remains in the central part of the pan. 12 wide grill openings allow easy
access to the feed. LaïCa is applicable in different housing systems:
floor feeding (free range or bio), aviary systems and enriched cages. |
